Mediroyal Neptune C-GO thumb brace has an adjustable Velcro strap and comes in right and left in four sizes. The brace holds the thumb in a neutral resting position without locking the hand.

Thumb support for osteoarthritis at the thumb base

Mediroyal states that the brace is particularly suited to problems in the thumb base joint, the CMC joint, and in the middle joint, the MCP. The support relieves the joint when you grip, while the fingers stay free and you can use your hand as usual. The manufacturer also lists osteoarthritis, joint instability, inflammation, sprains and rheumatoid arthritis among the indications, as well as use after surgery at the thumb base and with hypermobility in the thumb and wrist.

The material is called Neptune and is a breathable, low-profile textile. It feels cool against the skin, which according to Mediroyal is the difference from the warmer NRX version: the same construction, but thinner and better ventilated for longer use.

How to adjust the support

The brace has an adjustable Velcro strap with a hook on the inside, and the whole outside is Velcro fabric. That means you can attach the strap wherever you like and direct the pull exactly where you need support. The closure is in two parts, so you put the brace on and take it off with one hand. If the thumb section reaches too far up, you can shorten it with ordinary scissors.

Choose size by the wrist

You measure the circumference of the wrist, not the thumb. Size 1 XS fits 13 to 15 cm, size 2 S/M fits 15 to 17 cm, size 3 L/XL fits 17 to 20 cm and size 4 XXL fits 20 to 23 cm. Also remember to choose the right side, because the brace comes in right and left in four sizes and a right-hand brace cannot be used on the left hand.

Who is the thumb brace for?
