About Mediroyal Wrist Brace Nea Stabil with Lacing

Mediroyal Nea Stabil wrist brace is 20 cm long and has lacing for even pressure and volar and dorsal aluminium splints. The brace comes in five sizes and in both right and left versions.

Laced wrist support with splints

The brace relieves a wrist that hurts or feels unstable, and it keeps the joint still while the fingers stay free to move. The outer fabric is perforated velour, while the inside is a soft, absorbent material against the skin. The manufacturer lists velour leather, polyester, nylon, cotton, polypropylene and aluminium as materials.

How the lacing works

Four laces run across the wrist and gather in a wide Velcro strap, 5 cm wide and 10 cm long, at the end of the lacing. You take the strap around the underside and inside of the wrist and pull it tight, which gives lacing for even pressure instead of single straps cutting in. That is why you can put the brace on with one hand, which matters if your grip strength is reduced. If the strap is too long, you can shorten it with scissors.

Two splints that follow the hand

The brace has volar and dorsal aluminium splints. The volar splint is shaped to the contour of the hand and wrist and lies wide against the palm, while the dorsal splint on the back gives extra stability. You can shape both by hand, so the fit becomes your own.

Before washing, close all Velcro straps and remove the splints. Then hand wash the brace at 30 degrees with a mild detergent and let it air dry. Avoid bleach, tumble drying and ironing.

Choose size and side

You measure the circumference of the wrist, not the hand. Size XS fits under 15 cm, S fits 15 to 17 cm, M fits 17 to 19 cm, L fits 19 to 21 cm and XL fits 21 cm and up. Also choose the right side, because a right-hand brace cannot be used on the left hand.

Who is the brace for?

Mediroyal lists carpal tunnel syndrome, use before and after surgery, radial nerve palsy, injuries after sprains and rheumatic diseases as indications. Do not use it, however, with extensive skin damage, lymphoedema in the arm, arterial vascular disease or known hypersensitivity to any of the materials.
