About Classic Canes Birds Adjustable Derby Cane
Classic Canes Birds adjustable derby cane — an aluminium walking stick in two coastal bird prints, adjustable from 73 to 95 cm without cutting, and weighing only 265 g.
Two coastal bird prints on a derby cane
The prints reproduce originals hand-painted by Charlotte Gillan. Kingfisher puts bright blue and orange kingfishers among bulrushes on a sky-blue ground; Puffin sets black and white puffins with fish bones against pale blue. The pattern runs over the derby handle and down the whole shaft, and a chrome collar finishes the join.
You set the height anywhere between 73 and 95 cm with a spring button, so nobody has to saw a shaft to length — which also makes it a safe gift when you do not know how tall the recipient is. Pushed all the way down it measures 64 cm, short enough to stand in a wardrobe or lie in a bag. The aluminium shaft keeps the weight at 265 g while the moulded derby handle spreads the load across the palm, and the rubber ferrule is a standard 16 mm that you can replace when it wears.

Who is it for?
The cane suits you if you want a stick with some character rather than a plain grey tube, and it makes a straightforward gift for someone who watches birds. It also works well as a spare or travel cane, because it shortens and the height is set in seconds.
