About ResMed AirFit F20 Mask Frame Non-Magnetic

AirFit F20 non-magnetic mask frame — an original ResMed spare part for the full face mask in the magnet-free version. The frame is the part that decides whether the mask has magnets, and this version is made for you if you have a pacemaker or implant in your body, or share a bed with someone who does.

Hooks instead of magnets

On the magnetic AirFit F20 the magnets sit in the lower arms of the frame and attract the headgear clips. This frame instead has a hook in each lower arm, which you hook the headgear loop or clip onto by hand. So it is the frame you change if you want to go from a mask with magnets to one without – changing only the headgear or clips is not enough, because the magnetic frame has nothing to hook onto.

The frame is transparent and slim where it passes the eyes, so it does not block your view when you read or watch TV before you fall asleep. You click it off the cushion and elbow without tools.

Who needs a frame without magnets?

ResMed states that masks with magnets must not be used if you have an active implant affected by magnetic fields – pacemaker, ICD, neurostimulator, cerebrospinal fluid shunt or insulin pump – or an implant of ferromagnetic material, for example aneurysm clips, stents, heart valves, electrodes, cochlear implants with magnets or metal splinters in the eye. The same applies if the person next to you in bed has any of these. If you or your bed partner have an implant that magnets can disturb, such as a pacemaker, the magnet-free frame is what makes it possible to use the AirFit F20.

Care

ResMed recommends that you clean the frame every day. Rinse it under running water and brush off visible dirt with a soft brush. Then soak it for up to ten minutes in warm water, about 30 degrees, with a little mild washing-up liquid. Shake it in the water, rinse thoroughly and let it air dry out of direct sunlight.
