The ferrule is a simple model, designed for more elegant walking sticks, some of which have a metal finish. The ferrule prevents the stick from slipping on hard surfaces such as wooden floors or pavements.
Remember to replace your ferrule if it becomes worn as it will become smooth and slippery.
