About ResMed Headgear AirFit F20 Non-Magnetic
AirFit F20 non-magnetic headgear — an original ResMed spare part for the full face mask in the version without magnets, with loops instead of magnetic clips. The magnet-free headgear belongs to the mask that exists for you if you have a pacemaker or implant in your body, or sleep next to someone who does.
Loops instead of magnetic clips
The standard AirFit F20 headgear has magnets that click into the mask frame by themselves. This version instead has a plastic loop at each end that you thread over the hooks on the mask frame. You get the same fit and the same grey fabric strap with blue padding at the crown and neck – the difference is in the attachment, and it requires the mask frame to be the magnet-free version.
You adjust the fabric strap with Velcro on both sides. The lower strap holds the mask against the chin while the upper one spreads the pressure over the crown, so the mask stays in place when you turn over in your sleep.
Benefits of a magnet-free fabric strap
- Loops instead of magnets – no magnetic fields close to the body
- Original ResMed spare part for the non-magnetic AirFit F20 full face mask
- Three sizes: S (Small), Standard and L (Large)
- Velcro adjustment on both sides for an individual fit
- You change it without tools when the fabric has stretched
Who needs headgear without magnets?
ResMed states that masks with magnetic clips must not be used if you have an active implant affected by magnetic fields – pacemaker, ICD, neurostimulator, cerebrospinal fluid shunt or insulin pump – or an implant of ferromagnetic material, for example aneurysm clips, stents, heart valves, electrodes, cochlear implants with magnets or metal splinters in the eye. The same applies if the person you share a bed with has any of these. If you or your bed partner have an implant that magnets can disturb, such as a pacemaker, this headgear means you do not have to keep track of the distance to the magnets.

Other parts for the non-magnetic mask
The headgear belongs to the magnet-free mask – the mask frame must also be the non-magnetic version, because the magnetic frame holds the headgear with magnets and has nothing to hook the loops onto. If the clips are worn, you change them separately with headgear clips without magnets. The cushion, however, is shared by both versions: ResMed states that the non-magnetic frame fits AirFit F20 cushions in all sizes, so you use the standard F20 cushion. If you need the whole mask, the complete non-magnetic AirFit F20 full face mask is also available.
