Camp Scandinavia Selection rigid thumb orthosis – a firm support that stabilises the first CMC and MCP joint at arthritis in the base of the thumb, in five sizes for the left or the right hand.
A rigid build that rests the joint
The orthosis is made from polyester, nylon and elastane, which breathes and sits softly against the skin. The rigid build holds the thumb in a neutral position and takes the load off the muscles and the tendons. You fit the thumb strap first, place the opening over the thumb with the material against the back of the hand, then pull the strap around the wrist and secure it. Adjust the thumb strap until it follows the line marked on the surface.
It also gives steady support at wear injuries and rheumatic disease, and after trauma or surgery when the thumb and wrist feel unstable. Camp Scandinavia states that the orthosis itself should only be altered by a medical professional.
