How the cane wrist strap works
You slip the elastic collar over the cane shaft from the bottom and slide it up the shaft to handle height. The temporary removal of the ferrule lets the collar pass; you then put the ferrule back on. The braided strap loop drops over the wrist, which therefore keeps the cane attached even if you let go of the grip.
