An angled handle keeps the wrist straight

On an ordinary knife the wrist has to bend downwards to bring the blade onto the board. This handle sits above and behind the blade, so the hand stays in line with the forearm and the cut comes from the arm rather than from the wrist joint. That is the whole point of the design, and it makes a real difference if bending the wrist under load is what hurts.

The blade is smooth and sharp and goes through meat, fish and vegetables with very little force. The grey plastic handle with its black grip sits in the palm rather than being pinched between the fingers, which works with a weaker hand. Wash it by hand — the dishwasher takes the edge off.
